Amazing Disney & Mannekin Pis with our European Tour
Euro Disney: Dreams come true in Euro Disney, where five magical Lands bring fairy tales to life like nowhere else. Discover spectacular shows, jaw-dropping attractions, a dazzling parade and unforgettable encounters with Disney Characters.
Mannekin Pis: This dates back to the Middle Ages, when, in the mid-15th century, a Manneken Pis statuette was already decorating a public fountain situated at the intersection of the rue du Chêne and the rue de l’Étuve. The inhabitants of Brussels were fond of this figure of a urinating child, so it was not surprising that the city authorities commissioned a renowned sculptor, Jérôme Duquesnoy the Elder (ca. 1570- 1650), to create a new statuette in bronze as part of a renovation project for the fountain in 1619. In the mid-19th century, Manneken Pis became a purely ornamental fountain. He is protected by a railing, which has closed off the basin into which he spurts water.
Grand Palais (Grand Palace): The Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées, commonly known as the Grand Palais (English: Great Palace), is a large historic site, exhibition hall and museum complex. The Palais served as a military hospital during World War I, employing local artists who had not been deployed to the front to decorate hospital rooms or to make moulds for prosthetic limbs. The Grand Palais today has a major police station in the basement whose officers help protect the exhibits on show.
European tour covering exciting Brussels, Amsterdam & Cologne
Brussels: Brussels now the neighborhood around the Oude Graanmarkt and Nieuwe Graanmarkt and the fashionable Dansaertstraat, with its many trendy retail outlets, art galleries, antique shops and designer shops. Here too is the Vlaamsesteenweg, which is all that remains of the ancient trade route to Ghent and Bruges. In recent years this street – with its quaint alleyways – has become a flourishing shopping street, with friendly pubs such as Daringman, Roskam or Monk, or restaurants like Viva M’Boma and Le Pré Salé, where you can still enjoy traditional Brussels cuisine.
Amsterdam: Also called Venice of the North for its gorgeous canals, the capital of the Netherlands encompasses everything Dutch – the freedom, the quirkiness, the culture. Tolerant and progressive, the city’s attitude will welcome you with open arms and never let you go. You could visit the medieval city center and the picturesque houses of the Beijinghof. Explore the various art galleries and museums here – the Rembrandt House Museum exhibiting works of Amsterdam’s most famous artist might be a good place to start. And do not forget about the canals and their serene beauty which will transport you into another world. Alternatively, take in the new Amsterdam of the 21st century. Friendly breweries selling Heineken and other beverages, atmospheric coffee shops, nightclubs bustling with life and alternative festivals are only a few of the places you could visit. The city has many faces and is willing to show them all.
Cologne: Cologne offers a mix of magnificent and romantic churches, the latest in modern architecture, busy shopping streets and world-famous museums. Visitors to Cologne will find a modern media city with historic roots. Cologne is the oldest of Germany’s large cities and the impressive outline of its cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece and the most visited building in Germany, towers over all the city’s other buildings.
